Alcohol and Drug Interventions

Does someone you know have a drug or alcohol addiction? You may be looking for the best way to have an intervention and stop the effects of drugs and alcohol from taking your loved one away from you. You can get the addicted person to a better place in their life especially if they realize how much everyone cares for them when they see everyone gathered for an addiction intervention.

Many people who are addicted to drugs or alcohol don’t want to admit the fact that it has gotten to the point of needing help to stop using. They feel that they have total control of their life when in fact every aspect of their life is in a downward spiral and they just don’t realize it. This is called denial and is all a part of the process. Once you can get them to see that all the important people in their life is saying they have to stop using, they may have a better grasp of reality.

Holding a drug intervention can really make a drug user face the facts about their situation enough to get them to agree to getting help. The important part is staying firm in what you are saying to them but do so in the most loving of ways so that the addict doesn’t feel like they are being attacked. It may take 3 or 4 people to actually say they won’t have anything to do with the addict if they don’t get some help for their problem.

No matter what happens at the drug or alcohol intervention, you must remember that the addict will be under the effects of the drugs or alcohol and may not respond in a positive way. Facing the facts can be hard when your high or drunk so try to plan out a good time for holding the intervention for a successful outcome.
